The Philippines has deployed a blockchain-based transparency system for its Department of Public Works and Highways following widespread protests over alleged corruption in flood-control projects. Over 100,000 citizens took to the streets after revelations that funds meant for critical infrastructure were misappropriated, with some projects either defective or nonexistent.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. endorsed Integrity Chain, a tamper-proof ledger developed by BayaniChain Ventures, to track contracts and project progress. "We are turning government records into digital public assets that are immutable, verifiable, and openly validated," said BayaniChain CEO Paul Soliman. The system marks a significant step in addressing systemic corruption that has persisted for decades.
